17 Augugst 1945 Semarang University continues to strengthen its existence in the international arena by establishing academic cooperation with Dongseu University, South Korea. This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in an official event held at the Muhammadiyah University of Semarang (UNIMUS), along with dozens of other universities.
In the agreement, UNTAG Semarang was represented by the Rector Prof. Dr. Drs. Suparno, M.Si, while Dongseu University was represented by Professor Zeku Chang. This collaboration covers various aspects, ranging from student and lecturer exchange programs, joint research, to global-based curriculum development.
The Rector of UNTAG Semarang, Prof. Suparno, said that this collaboration is a strategic step to improve the quality of education and open up academic opportunities for students and lecturers at the international level. “We are very enthusiastic about this collaboration because it will provide a global standard academic experience and broaden students’ horizons in an international context,” he said.
Not only with Dongseu University, UNTAG Semarang also participates in strategic cooperation with the Asian Alliance University (AAU), an alliance of universities throughout Asia that aims to strengthen the excellence of technology, research, and educational innovation. The Head of the International Office and Mobility (IOM) UNTAG Semarang, Prof. Dr. Ars. Eko Nursanty, ST., MT., said that this cooperation will open up opportunities for joint research, academic networks, and joint degree programs with universities in Asia.
The President of Dongseu University, Professor Zeku Chang, welcomed UNTAG Semarang’s involvement in AAU. “With the joining of universities from Indonesia, I am sure that there will be a broader exchange of knowledge, enriching cultural understanding, and improving the quality of higher education in Asia,” he said.
In addition, this collaboration is also supported by the Central Java Private University Association (APTISI) and 71 universities that are members of the Association of the International Affairs Office of Muhammadiyah Universities in Asia (ASKI PTMA), as well as several State Universities (PTN)
